Saturday in Echo Park

Ran some chores in Echo Park last Saturday, and decided to swing by Two Boots to try out their pizza. Alas, they were closed (second failed attempt at getting pizza from there- first time we called about delivery they hadn't started delivery service yet), so we drove a bit further down to try out Lot 1 cafe, a little place we had walked past a few weeks ago during the Echo Park art crawl.

Pretty good experience, but nothing overall special. They seemed to be closing up, but when we poked our heads in, they were very nice and stayed open for us.

We had the roast beef and tuna salad sandwich with iced teas. It was a very pleasant meal, sitting outside, enjoying the weather and hipster-watching, and our waiter was very attentive. The ice tea was delicious, my side salad was very good as well. The tuna salad sandwich was ok- nothing to write home about (a bit heavy on the mayo, and the bread was a little dried out), but the flavors were good, and my husband's roast beef sandwich was middle of the road as well ( although I think he thought it was a hot sandwich when he ordered it).

Prices were average- around $23 for the two of us. In all, it was a pleasant lunch- I've heard really good things about their breakfast/ late night menu, so I'd be interested in coming back and checking those out.  So overall, good experience, but I don't know if I'd be craving another visit for lunch necessarily.

After wards, we walked down adn checked out Bandit Gallery, a new gallery space that's just opened on Sunset. They had their first group show up in the front, and were getting ready for some benefit event that night in a back patio area. Need to go back and check out how they grow in the coming months!
